Accessibility statement
How we are making this website usable for everyone, what still needs work and how to tell us about a problem.
Last updated 12 October 2026
At a glance
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have checked parts of the site ourselves, but we do not yet claim that it fully meets this standard.
- Pages use real headings, our form fields are labelled, whatever has keyboard focus is clearly marked, and the site respects your device’s reduce-motion setting.
- Known gaps: many images, especially in case studies, lack text descriptions; some articles, case studies and impact stories skip heading levels; and the home page slider has no pause button.
- To report a problem, email [email protected], or phone or WhatsApp +91 81291 68649.
1. Our aim
This statement covers buildtosustain.net, the website of Build to Sustain. Build to Sustain is the trading name of Buildtosustain Solutions Private Limited. The site has no PDFs or other downloadable documents at present.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this site, including people who navigate with a keyboard, use a screen reader or prefer less motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
We have checked parts of the site ourselves while building it, but we do not yet claim that it fully meets WCAG 2.2 AA. The gaps we know about are listed in section 3.
2. What we have done
- Structure. Pages use real headings, lists and tables, so screen readers can recognise them and move between them. A “Skip to content” link lets keyboard users jump past the menu.
- Keyboard focus. Links, menu items and buttons show a clear outline when they have keyboard focus, and the fields in our contact form show a darker border and a coral glow. You can open the main menus with the keyboard.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the home page slider does not rotate, its videos are replaced by still images, and animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
- Images and video. We aim to give every image that carries information a text description (alt text), and to mark purely decorative images so that screen readers skip them. Section 3 lists where we have not done this yet. The only videos are silent background clips in the home page slider. They have no sound to caption, and the slide text makes sense without them.
- Colour contrast. We chose text and button colours for contrast. For example, our coral buttons use dark text because white text on coral is hard to read. We have measured text contrast on our About page against the WCAG AA ratios, but not yet on other pages.
- Forms. Every field in our contact and newsletter forms has a label. The forms also tell your browser which fields ask for your name, company, email address or phone number, so it can fill them in.
3. Known limitations
- Images without descriptions. Most images in our case studies, and some in our articles, service pages, impact stories and other pages, do not yet have text descriptions. We intend to add them.
- Heading order. Some articles, case studies and impact stories skip heading levels (for example, from a level 2 heading straight to a level 4). We intend to correct them.
- Home page slider. The slides change every 8 seconds and there is no pause button. They stop changing once you use the slider (the Next button, a progress bar or a swipe), and pause while keyboard focus is inside it, but the background video keeps playing.
- Third-party content. The cookie consent banner comes from an outside supplier, and the services we link to, such as WhatsApp, are run by other companies, so we cannot fully control how accessible they are. If you cannot use the banner, analytics cookies stay off, because Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them. If you have accepted them and cannot change your choice in the banner, you can delete this site’s cookies in your browser settings.
4. Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information from it in a different format, please contact us:
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone or WhatsApp: +91 81291 68649
Please tell us which page you were on (its web address, if you can) and what went wrong. We aim to reply to every report and to tell you what we can do.
We use the details you send to deal with your report, and our privacy policy explains how we handle them. You do not need to tell us about any disability or health condition. If you choose to, we will use it only to deal with your report. If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy also apply.
5. Changes to this statement
We last reviewed this statement on 12 October 2026, based on our own checks while building the site. We intend to update it as we fix the issues above and when the site changes significantly.
