Disclaimer
What you can and cannot rely on in our articles, SIM ratings and client stories.

At a glance
- Our Insights articles, including regulatory explainers, are general information. They are not legal, tax or investment advice, and they are not assurance.
- Rules such as BRSR, CBAM and carbon market regulations change. Check the current official text before you act.
- SIM ratings, scores, badges and certificates, client stories and impact stories each describe one engagement at a point in time. They are our own assessment, not accredited certification, an audit, independent assurance or a guarantee.
- Names, logos and trade marks belong to their owners. Showing an organisation’s name or logo does not mean it endorses us. In our client stories and client logos, it refers to work we did for that organisation or to an assessment of it carried out for a client.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using or relying on the content of this website or our emailed insights. Section 7 sets out the full position.
1. About this disclaimer
This disclaimer applies to the content of buildtosustain.net and to any insights we send by email. Build to Sustain is the trading name of Buildtosustain Solutions Private Limited, a private limited company incorporated in India. In this disclaimer, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company.
Please read it together with our terms of use and our privacy policy. If this disclaimer and our terms of use conflict, the terms of use apply. The summary at the top of this page is a guide only and does not replace the full text below.
This disclaimer is governed by the laws of India, and the courts named in our terms of use have exclusive jurisdiction.
2. General information, not advice
The articles in our Insights section are general information. This includes our explainers on Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and carbon markets. They are not legal, tax, investment or other professional advice, and they are not assurance of any kind. They do not take account of your organisation’s circumstances.
Nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold carbon credits, securities or any other asset. Before you act, take advice suited to your situation.
Reading this website or contacting us does not make you our client. Any services we provide are governed by the terms agreed for that engagement.
3. Laws and frameworks change
Laws, regulations and reporting frameworks change often, sometimes at short notice. Each article reflects our understanding at the time it was written.
We do not always revise older articles when the rules change. We take care over our content, but we do not promise that it is complete, accurate or up to date. Check the current official text before you act.
4. SIM ratings, client stories and impact stories
The Sustainability Index Metric (SIM) is our own questionnaire-based framework for assessing an organisation’s ESG performance. We express the result as a score and as a badge, including badges labelled “Supplier rated”, and we call the result a SIM rating. In some cases we also issue a SIM certificate.
We gave the SIM ratings, scores, badges and certificates shown on this website during specific client engagements. In some cases they were given to suppliers that we assessed on behalf of a client.
Each SIM rating, client story (our case studies) and impact story describes one engagement at a point in time. It is based on the information available to us and the scope agreed for that engagement. The organisation’s performance may have changed since.
A SIM rating, score, badge or certificate is our own assessment under our own framework. It is not an accredited certification. It is not an audit, and it is not assurance by an independent third party. It does not guarantee the organisation’s future performance or its compliance with any law or standard.
A SIM rating is not a credit rating. It is not designed for decisions about investing in, lending to or trading in the securities of any organisation, and it is not a recommendation to invest in, lend to or trade with that organisation.
Results described in our client stories, impact stories and testimonials depend on each organisation’s circumstances. They are not a promise that you will achieve similar results.
5. Names, logos and trade marks
Names and logos of the organisations featured on this website, and other third-party names and trade marks, belong to their owners. In our client stories, impact stories and client logos, we show an organisation’s name or logo to refer to work we have done for it, or to an assessment of it that we carried out as part of a client engagement (for example, a supplier assessed in a client’s supply-chain programme).
This does not mean that the organisation endorses us or anything on this website. A testimonial gives the personal view of the person quoted.
Mentioning a regulation, standard or framework, or the body responsible for it, does not mean that the body endorses us.
6. Links to other websites
We link to other websites for convenience, for example international organisations and research publications. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse the site or its owner.
7. Reliance and liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the content of this website or the insights we send by email. This includes our Insights articles, SIM ratings, scores, badges and certificates, client stories and impact stories.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies. It does not change the terms agreed with any client for an engagement.
8. Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
