Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use buildtosustain.net.
Last updated 12 October 2026
At a glance
- These terms cover your use of this website. Build to Sustain is the trading name of Buildtosustain Solutions Private Limited, the company that runs the site. Our consulting services, including Sustainability Index Metric (SIM) ratings, are provided through client engagements, not through this website.
- Our articles, client stories and service pages are general information, not professional advice, and a SIM rating is not a credit rating or investment advice. Reading the site or contacting us does not make you a client.
- You may read, download and print our pages for your own non-commercial use, share links to them and quote short extracts with a credit and a link. Anything else needs our written permission, unless the law allows it. Only organisations we have rated may show a SIM badge.
- Please do not misuse the site: no hacking, harmful code, bulk copying of content or spam through our forms.
- Indian law applies. Disputes about these terms or this site go to the courts for the place where our registered office is located, unless consumer protection law lets you complain elsewhere.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Build to Sustain is the trading name of Buildtosustain Solutions Private Limited, a private limited company registered in India. The company runs this website, buildtosustain.net. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “you” means anyone using the site.
These terms apply to your use of this website. By using it, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
They do not cover our consulting services, our Sustainability Index Metric (SIM) ratings or the platforms we use with clients (Pulse, Karbon, Bridge and Lenz). Those are provided through client engagements, not through this website, and the terms of each engagement govern them.
2. Using this website
You do not need an account to use this site. There are no visitor accounts or logins, no comments and no payments, and we do not sell anything through it. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time.
Acceptable use
Please use the site lawfully and fairly. You must not:
- use the site in a way that breaks any law or infringes anyone’s rights
- try to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server or any connected system, or test its security without our written permission
- introduce viruses or other harmful code, or do anything that overloads or disrupts the site
- use automated tools to copy or extract content from the site in bulk (this does not prevent search engines from indexing the site)
- send spam, false information or another person’s details through our forms, or sign anyone up to our newsletter without their permission
- pretend to be someone else, or suggest a connection with us that does not exist
We may block access to the site for anyone who breaks these rules.
Information you send us
When you contact us through the site, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp, please send only information that is accurate and that you are entitled to share. Please do not send confidential business information until we have agreed terms with you.
Please do not send us passwords, bank or card details, health information or other sensitive personal data. Our privacy policy explains how we handle the information you do send.
3. Our content is general information, not advice
Our articles, news, client stories, impact stories, service pages and descriptions of SIM are general information about ESG and sustainability. They are not professional, legal, financial or investment advice, and they do not take account of your organisation’s circumstances. Client stories describe our work with particular organisations, and similar results are not guaranteed for your organisation.
A SIM rating and its badge reflect our assessment of an organisation at the time of the rating. They are not a credit rating, a rating of any security or investment advice, and no one should rely on them alone when making a lending or investment decision.
Regulations and reporting standards such as BRSR, CBAM and the GRI Standards change often. An article reflects our understanding on the date it was published and may not be updated afterwards. Before acting on anything you read here, take advice that is specific to your situation.
Reading this site or contacting us does not make you our client.
4. Intellectual property
Our content
Unless we say otherwise, the articles and other text, graphics and page designs on this site, and the Build to Sustain name and logo, belong to us or are used by us under licence. They are protected by intellectual property law. Fonts, software and other third-party material on the site are used under their own licences.
You may view, download and print pages for your own non-commercial use, and share links to them. You may quote a short extract if you credit Build to Sustain and link to the original page. Any other copying, republishing, adapting or commercial use needs our written permission, except where the law allows it without permission (for example, fair dealing under the Copyright Act 1957).
Client names, logos and testimonials
Client names, logos and testimonials on this site, and any photographs supplied by clients, belong to the organisations and people concerned. Showing them here does not give you any right to use them.
SIM ratings and badges
The Sustainability Index Metric (SIM) is our framework for rating organisations. Only an organisation we have rated may display a SIM badge, and only the badge for the rating it received. No one may use a SIM badge in any other way, or use the SIM name or a SIM rating name to claim or suggest a rating that we have not awarded.
5. Links to and from other sites
This site links to other websites, including WhatsApp and the sources cited in some of our articles. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability or how they handle your information. A link is not an endorsement.
You are welcome to link to any page on our site, as long as you do not suggest that we endorse you or have a relationship with you that does not exist.
6. Liability
We provide this site free of charge, for general information. We take reasonable care over it, but we do not promise that it will always be available, complete, accurate, up to date or free of viruses.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, from being unable to use it, or from relying on its content. This includes indirect loss and loss of profit, business or goodwill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in them affects any rights you have under consumer protection law. If you are a client, the services you receive are governed by the terms of your engagement, not by these terms.
7. Privacy and cookies
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information, including what you send us through the site’s forms, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp, and the analytics data the site collects through Google Analytics. Our cookie policy lists the cookies the site uses and explains how to accept or reject them.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. The version published here when you use the site is the one that applies to that use.
9. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts for the place where our registered office is located have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of this site, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a complaint elsewhere.
If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest of the terms still apply.
